The first hour of your day…Depending on what time you get up, the morning is filled with golden sunshine and promises of fresh starts. How do you spend it? Reading email? Stressing about your giant to-do list? Or are you able to maximize this golden hour to get your day off on the right foot?
I read this great article this morning during my golden hour outlining what successful people do with their first hour, and a lot of it is stuff I’ve heard before but it was so good to be reminded. I think most of us have heard the analogy about rocks of various sizes filling the jar of our day – and by tackling the biggest rock first we are able to fill in our day with smaller rocks. I have to admit this article had reference to a book I haven’t read (but am putting on my to-read list) called Eat That Frog. The premise is:
…if you eat a live frog first thing in the morning, you’ve got it behind you for the rest of the day, and nothing else looks so bad.
First of all…eww! Second of all, I guess that would be much better than staring at the live frog all day dreading having to eat it before the day is through.
So…as I’m sitting here on a Monday morning with my cup of coffee getting ready to start my day, I’m ready to tackle the frog and get it out of the way so that I don’t have that dread hanging over me.
How do you spend your golden hour? Do you feel like you’re getting a jump start on the day, or is there something you’d like to do differently?
However you’re spending your Monday morning, I hope it’s the start of a fabulous week!
